Your Dog's Stay
Your Dog's Stay
When your dog comes for his or her holiday they will become part of my family for the duration of their stay.
My family consists of my Portuguese rescue dog, Dottee, and an ancient rescue cat called Splodge, who thinks this is an actual hotel and he is the manager. Splodge is not like most cats, he welcomes the dogs and doesn’t run away. Even dogs who like to chase cats, if they see them, generally rather like Splodge – and I always ensure I introduce them in a controlled way.
I live on the edge of Beacon Hill Nature Reserve in Rottingdean and have a gate in my totally secure back garden, opening onto the woods on the edge of the reserve, so there is no need to put the dogs in the car for walks – we just step out through the garden. If your dog is comfortable in the car, on days when he is the only guest we might go further afield.

Your Dog's Holiday
"She cared for Twiggy like she was her own giving lots of walks and
cuddles and the best care. I could not be happier. I’ve come home to a happy, contented
and healthier looking Twiggy"
INITIAL MEETING

Before confirming a booking, I arrange a meeting with you and your dog on the nature reserve. Your dog can meet my dog Dottee then come back through my garden to meet the cat. If this all works well, then I will send you my booking form and booking conditions and will ask you for a non-refundable deposit. We can then arrange a trial (half or full day for day care clients, overnight for boarding clients).
TRANSPORTING DOGS

I don’t use a van to collect and drop dogs. This is because many of the dogs who come to me are rescues who would be stressed by being put in a crate. I only transport a maximum of two client dogs in my car, one on the back seat and one in the large rear section. The dogs are secured with seat belts.
DURING THEIR HOLIDAY

Your dog will become part of my furry family. They can sleep wherever they would like to sleep; if they hate walking in the rain then they won’t have to; if they prefer short walks that can be arranged. I will ask for all sorts of details from you before their stay so we can make sure their wish is my command.
I will send you regular pupdates and photographs of your dog so that you know they are having a great time.
As a Reiki practitioner we often have relaxing Reiki sessions – it is truly remarkable to see how relaxing the dogs find this.
WALKING

Usually, I walk the dogs on Beacon Hill Nature Reserve which means going through my garden into the woods. I tailor-make walks to suit individual dogs but generally walk for at least an hour and a half in the morning and the same in the afternoon. I never walk more than 4 dogs at once on my own, if I have more to walk then I have a team of experienced, trusted helpers who come with me. I put them in charge of my own dogs so I can concentrate on client dogs. I will walk dogs on lead initially, then will use a long line (not a retractable lead). If and when I am happy that the dog has perfect recall, I will talk to you and make sure you are happy for me to walk them off lead.
